I'm not religious because I realized that the history of the church isn't as nice as they claim it to be. They talk about brotherly love but they hate homosexuals without reason. To me, that doesn't make no sense at all.
When I was younger, I always thought that the religions are against war and murders - but then I realized that a large part of wars and murders/genocides on earth are caused by religious beliefs.
And one thing confused me alot: Every religion claims that their religion is the only right one and everyone who believes in another god is wrong. So who is right when everyone thinks that they have the ultimate belief.
So I'm Atheist but I think that Buddhism is quite interesting.
-> That's only my opinion. I didn't intend to offend anyone. I'm quite tolerant and think that everyone should believe in what they want, as long as they are tolerant and let others believe what they want, too.
(there was a woman I didn't know who wanted me to join her cult/sect.....). I think that being gay made me more tolerant towards minorities.
