When I was younger, I always thought that the religions are against war and murders - but then I realized that a large part of wars and murders/genocides on earth are caused by religious beliefs.
And one thing confused me alot: Every religion claims that their religion is the only right one and everyone who believes in another god is wrong. So who is right when everyone thinks that they have the ultimate belief.
So I'm Atheist but I think that Buddhism is quite interesting.

(there was a woman I didn't know who wanted me to join her cult/sect.....). I think that being gay made me more tolerant towards minorities.

Well they hate gays because gay sex can't reproduce and they think its unfair for men to waster their ''seed'' as its like taking away someones chance at life. Thats also why they're against contraception. It doesn't make sense why they hate gays SO much though.
That's true. there would be a lot less war but there could be a lot more immoral people.
Pope Benedict XVI said a while back that you don't need to be catholic anymore, you just need to be a good person to get into heaven. That being said he also said any Arabs who aren't terrorists get in....bad idea Pope.
I think Buddhism is one of the best choices out there.
