That depends, are you talking about now or then?

If now, then no one would believe you since the only word that most people believe in is the word of science.

If then, then yes most people will believe you because the Bible (or any religious text) that preached loving your neighbour and explained why the things the way they are (sort of like their "science" of that time) then, yes.

Most religions preach about good and spreading good. It also provides hope for those people who are otherwise hopeless and desperate, so having faith in something will ease their suffering.

I'm not preaching about any particular religion, but this is how religion was back in those days (or rather how Christianity was back then). It was only through time and corruption of the Vatican Church did they bastardize the religion to manipulate people.
