I very much appreciate his work as it takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary. I am thinking that he is a contemporary of Picasso, and many things of their works bear some similarities. The avatar of the OP is a classic example of Dali taking a seemingly innocuous thing like the face of the average man and turning it into a striking object that immediately captures you attention through the dramatic gestures and background.

I love the way you (Matt Rools You) Think you are more knowledgeable than anyone else on him/his work.
It's the way you wrote the post see. I wish I was as naive as you. because naive = happy.

Why would I be freaked out by an avatar. Salvador Dali aimed to add some thought to his paintings, he didn't make his pictures blatantly obvious with emotion. You have to think about his paintings in order to understand them. A floating shell doesn't shout, SHOCK HORROR.
