Stereotype?

Alright, I want everyone's elses opinion on this. Obviously not every single person involved in musical theatre and drama are gay...but is it really a stereotype? I think at least the majority of people there are. Like, the number of gay kids at the art school near me WAYYY outnumbers the amount there are at my school. Like, there is some correlation, isn't there?

Thats kind of interesting actually, see, if you know how the hemispheres of the brain work right, Left controls a lot of analytic skills, such as math, sequences.. yadda yadda, and your right has more to do with art, intuitive, creative, random, and looks at stuff as a whole! Which means these people are more "right brained" because of their creativeness. Now if you say this stereotype of true, *which i don't know* there must be some kind of correlation between being gay, and the right side of the brain.

Another interesting fact, if you are left handed you are more likely to be gay! Once again! the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body (left hand)! interesting huh? *I tried to find where i read it, but i can't, if i find it later ill post it here* Also just from knowing creative people *who i am jealous of cause I'm not* i find they are also more liberal, which means they are more likely to accept gay people or the whole gay society, or even easier to accept that they are gay, and won't let it bother them.

Not to kill the topic with science, even though i do love science, ill just give my two cents. You are right, there probably is some kind of correlation, however we don't really know what it is. It'd be interesting to find out.. but as i said, these "art" people are more liberal , which means they are probably more likely to "come out" compared to the left-brained, analytic people right? they are probably a bit more conservative. I'd really like to hear more on this.. Thanks Viester! I'll have to write it down if i ever want to do a study / research later on in university

as for the first two paragraphs, i always knew that stuff, but i never thought of piecing it together like that, way to think deep!

as for the rest, yeah, i've always wondered that too, if we have both of the same amounts, but they're more open about it there, cus it's more accepting...

Well i certainly am!!
No, i dont think it is a stereotype.
People nowadays in TV act quite camp to try and keep audiences entertained even if they aren't gay.
I certainly act camp on stage!.

I think it is a stereotype. I always hear from my friends Drama is gay, or Plays are gay.

I do. A disproportionate number of homosexuals are to be found in show business for whatever reason.

There is a dance class at my school, and besides girls, gay guys happen to be in it. There isn't any straight guys on the team. As for the stereotype, I don't believe it's true because most actors out there must have attended drama, musicals, etc. in college. The same may not apply to school though...

I, myself, believe that it is certainly not a stereotype. I'm performing arts stuff like theatre and choir and have yet to meet a gay guy. I'm not entirely sure but I doubt any of them are gay. One of my friends is straight and is in dance class. It really doesn't matter if you are in the theatre club or on the football team or in the auto mechanic group. It only matters who you are. It's like saying every jock is dumb. It's just stupid and ignorant of other people to stereotype others.
