I would buy it because of its 1000 horses and its topspeed.

But it's just a little too expensive and I don't like the design of it...

i just dont get why its called horsepower anymore since yeah from 1 to 2
or up to about 5 it would make a difference but 1000 horses would be jsut the same as 100 except they would take up more space since they would all be going the same speed and by the time you get to ten they have so little weighing them down you cant slow them down anymore anyway so its just crazy

also personally i would just buy a cheap car that works and doesnt look like it just came from the scrapheap but some cars do look cool i admit

Its called horse power because in the olden days people could compare the cars to horses and say "this car is just as powerful as 10 horses"
horsepower isnt how fast a car can go, it is the strength the car has, there would be a huge difference between 100 hp and 1000 hp

But torque is more important than horsepower.
Torque is the force. You can easily get many horsepower with high revs.
So I would prefer a car with lot of torque. But the Veyron has got enough of torque

More important for what? Certainly not for speed. Diesel engines have plenty of torque to go around, but aren't as fast as their gasoline equivalents.

Yeah you're right, torque's more important for acceleration with low revs -> more "force"
Not for speed..... horsepower is for speed

An example:
Your Car has 200 Nm @ 5000rpm => 103 kW
and a Diesel has maybe 400 Nm @2500rpm => 103 kW
(more force in lower revs but the same power)

.... so power (horsepower) is dependent on revs:
high revs => much horsepower
