Is it necessary?

I'm gay and all my friends know. Their cool with it i mean i get insulted about it but thats in the usual guy way so i don't think anything of it. But my family doesn't know and i dunno if i'll tell them. My moms a racist and i don't talk to my dad so i don't think i'll tell em.. I don't think it's necessary really.. Am i wrong?

imo- no. I think if u don't want them to know, then it's ur right to not tell them

yeah im pretty much in the same situation
most of my friends know but i have no intention of telling my family, at least until im like out of college
its not that im scared they'll abandon me or anything i just know that theyll never look at me the same way
so...yeah its absolutely ur right to keep that to urself. its ur life, not theirs

No, you're not wrong. If you feel that they don't need to know, don't tell them. I would be careful though. They could find out on their own.

i agree with every one else you don't feel they should know don't tell them. but as bulvox sead be careful i planed on not tell my parents untill i was on my own ... but they found out confronted me about it and are semi ok with it... even though they let me ex live with me and sleep in the same bed as me for three months. they still hate the fact im gay. o_O

i reeeeaaaalllllyyy hope they don't find out by accident. I'm careful about it i don't have friends over in case my parents over hear anything i keep my freinds and parents as far apart as possible and i don't dress or talk really stereotype gay ya know.. Plus their was the time i thought my dad knew (he didn't) so i left straight porn out for him to "accidentally" find..

haha my parents are just completelyyyyy oblivious. like im pretty sure i leave enough hints for them but they just could never even fathom the idea that im anything but straight. my dad caught me downloading two seasons of queer as follk and he confronted me about it. i was just like oh its a project for school, which he very willingly believed

yeah i wish i could say i was confident in my answer, as many of u r. ive been hiding for so long that im scared to come out...even with some of my friends. many of them know, but many dont, as well. im too scared to tell my family b/c they are like super strong christians. i really dont know wat to do
