im just now coming out with some of my friends, but it doesnt feel completely right. here's my problem:
so yeah my parents r complete homophobes, and i hate it so much. i so wish i could tell them, but i luv them with all my heart. im adopted and i always want to show them how much i luv them. i know that i should be honest and tell them, but i dont want to break their hearts. im also afraid of the way they would treat me, because they r extreme christians. once i was talking with my dad about a friend who is gay. we just had an argument b/c he was talking rude about her and i didnt like it. he then said, "Christy r u gay, cause if u r then u have no hope." (in reference to christianity) i thought about waiting until i had a gf, but i dont really want to spring it on them. i also thought about telling them after i left for college, but they might not ever want me to visit them, and even if i did it would be totally awkward. GOSH! this totally sux. does anyone have any advice? |

Here's my advice. If you think they'll kick you out, wait tell your have somewhere else to live and can support yourself. If you think they will be very difficult but still let you live in the house, then it might be better to tell. I understand life and your relationship with them will suck for probably quite a while, but things will have to get better eventually. If you educate them and choose your words carefully, you could work things out eventually.
I figure love can overcome almost all homophobia, unless they are so far gone as to kick you out of the house. Good luck.
