I'm 14 and gay, and I want to come out to my family, because I think they really should know. My mom is pretty open-minded, she's really suportive about alot of stuff. I have a 7-year-old brother- i dont think he'll really understand. I also have a 17-year-old brother, he's not like a 'good christian' lets say (i.e- drugs, police ect.) but i don't really know his views on gays. The person i'm worried about the most is my dad. talking with him always seems to be awkward, idk if its jsut because ima teen... I have no idea of what he thinks about gay. So plz give suggestions!!

well, im 14 too and i came out to my family about 4 months ago and it was the best decision ive ever made... i think if you really are ready to tell them, tell your mom first because you said she's open-minded, then if you want to at that time either sit your family down and tell them or what i did is have my mom tell the rest of them while i was their...just make sure the atmosphere is right when you tell them, dont tell them durring a fight or anything else bad.

i agree that u should tell your mom first.. i mean i didn't tell my mom first.. i told my sister but neways if ur mom is open minded than she'll understand.. besides i bet she already knows.. when i told my mom she was like "hunny i've known for years" i was like WHAT?! lol but neways im sure ur family will accept you.. now i dont know ur father obviously but if ur father really loves you he'll accept you no matter ur sexuality.. just make sure YOUR ready! cuz if ur not than dont do it.. YOUR the one who needs to feel comfortable with telling them.. cuz this is a big deal.. it was really hard for me.. it took me 17 yrz to come out.. so just take ur time and when the time is right you'll know..
