I just told my mom

I don't know how i did it. I was just talking to my mom about what happened at school, and how these guys made fun of a gay teacher that was visiting the school. And, one thing lead to another, and I ended up telling my mom. At first she seemed , kind of shocked i suppose. Iunno, then i went over to give her a hug, and i just started bawling. And she just held me for a good 5 mins, and we talked and i told her how i always kinda known, and i tried not to be, but its just impossible. That it was something given to me.

SHe just told me she always loved me, and always will. Which made me cry even more. She said she won't tell dad , nor my brother, and its just up to me whenever i want to tell them. I don't know what to do, or say.. and.. ahah.. im still crying. It wasn't as relieving as i'd have expected.. i just.. i don't know if that was my gravest mistake, or best move i've made.

I am so happy for you! I don't think you'll regret your move. I'm in such a bubbly mood because of our bravery!

i rarely cry
like, almost never.. i can't remember the last time i cried.

yeah, i was FREAKED out telling my parents. i told them at 13 so my experience is most definitely different than yours, but after the whole shock, weirdness, and upsettingness subsides, it's amazing. being able to be yourself around you family is just indescribable. i have faith that this will be amazing in the long run. it was weird for me at first, but it's so worth getting through the weirdness and fear and whole barrage of emotion; the outcome is freedom!

Anyways, maybe it will take awhile for the relief in telling her to sink in, idk but
I definitely don't think that it was your gravest mistake, especially cuz of how she reacted.

On something like this or other important things you are going wonder...DID i do the right thing.... try not to second guess your self. I think your moms reaction was good. Most wouldnt or dont handle it well. And its good she said she is leaving it up to you to tell the rest of your family ( i think tho she may be thinking its a phase or you dont mean it) and i am sure or atleast hope she will be there to support you if and when you tell

Yeah, i thought that too, that she may think its a phase. Perhaps she hopes it is a phase, she did raise concern to the fact that my life will be a lot harder because of it. She also doesn't realize i have quite a few friends that are gay (online) to help me with stuff. She said " I wish i had words of wisdom, but i don't, other then i'll always love you. I just want you to be happy."

great for you, i wish i could work up the courage to tell my parents, but also im still a little confused about everything (i.e. whether im bi or gay...), but still, that was no mistake u made there, cause just holding it inside forever would be much worse. like imagine coming back from college or whatever and u hav a serious boyfriend or something and ur parents hav no idea bout anything, that situation would be so much more worse...!
