My Dad

OK, i was thinking about coming out quite soon.
but my Dad said something that has made me change my mind.
The Story
My next door neighbour and my parents were drinking in the garden, and she was talking about her hairdresser. she mentioned how her hairdresser was all nervous and excited whilst doing her hair because he had a 'hot date'. at which point, my Dad said to her, "is he one of these man hole lifters?" (gays) she said yes, to which he replied, "for god sake, you shouldnt be encouraging them, they're worse than these back-packers" (back-packers meaning suicide bombers).
this has really made me hat my dad, and that isnt the only comment he has made, he has made a few other comments about gays and his hate towards them.
any advice on coming out in the situation?

Are you sure he wasn't saying it in a sort of "I slightly disagree with it, but I'm joking really", Because my dad says stuff like that ALL the time and he is constantly joking, If you aren't sure, just speak to him about it, just say "dad, do you really think that being gay is wrong?"

thanks for your reply, but i am absolutely sure he is serious.
I think he is probably the most rasict, closed-minded, bigoted man i know.

it does sound like he was joking, which is better than him really angry about gays. but i agree with plastic, i'd wait until you turn 18 or leave home to give him the happy news

I don't think it sounded like he was joking at all - cause of the word he used to describe gays. I think you're better off with him not knowing to be honest.

Agreed. My dad would of disowned me and kicked me out of the house if my mom wouldn't divorce him. I've already been taken out of the family will for being gay ..
