Almost everyone who posted a comment on the newspaper assumed it was a homophobic attack, The article does not say if the people he had the argument with were the killers, nor does it say if it was a homophobic attack.

That article is propaganda at its best. Wait for the full story before starting any anti-homophobic rants I say.

But whether the attack was or wasn't homophobic, I still feel sorry for everyone involved and think this is yet another reason why guns should be banned in America.

If this is the same one, then it was related to the Kid who shot him being "Uncomfortable" with the kid who got shot being gay. The GSA I'm part of got permission to use him as a tribute for this year's coming Day of Silence

Using logic, either the newspapers are just using a stereotype to back up reason for the shooting, or they have conclusive evidence (in which is obviously not noted) that the attack was on basis of his sexuality.

Either way, its pretty tragic, and as stated before, another reason to ban guns in America.

This story is tragic.
However, we do not know the reason why he was shot.
The newspapers stating that he was gay is just a way of sensationalising the story,
everyone should know that newspapers go on sensationalism, not fact.
I do hope that this however was not a homophobic attack, as this could scare young males, and females, to be who they truly are.

It is so awful that this had to happen to this poor boy. I believe he was killed because of his sexuality and gender identity, as he asked the killer to be his valentine a few days before he died. i suppose we can never know for sure... but I don't believe he was killed for any other reason.

I was able to go to a memorial for him in West Hollywood. The crazy thing though was that there were only around 20 people there! It was surprising to me that such a small amount of people showed up especially because it was in West Hollywood! It was advertised in the area and had plenty of word-of-mouth advertising. Mostly everyone, including myself, had traveled from someplace else... I just found it weird that the gay community of Los Angeles didn't show more support for this boy. I mean, even if he wasn't murdered for being gay, he still was part of the gay community.. It's just sad that more people didn't care about the tragic death of Lawrence.
