I think anyone who disagrees with that show, simply shouldn't watch it. Yes, it creates quite a stereotype for many gay people, but it also incorporates a lot of the true life in Canal Street. It shows love, compassion, violence, hate, happiness and freedom, can they get much more in?
As I personally life near the street, I know what an emotional effect it can have on you, and just how different it truly is from anywhere else, or indeed any gay community in the world. If people had actually visited where it was set before they made harsh comments about it, they would see that QAF show a completely accurate representation of gay life in Manchester. So yeah, it helped me come out, I appreciate the show so much for it.

And Seth, I've never seen the British version, but it sounds great. I bet your story would make the creators of the show so happy! Isn't it amazing how one person's idea can directly impact the lives of so many people?

Your right it is amazing. I find the Theodore's soliloquy in the first episode amazing. If you don't remember Theodore was talking about how a average straight guy thinks about sex every 12 seconds. Then he said the average gay guy thinks about sex every 7 seconds. Thats just proves how accurate the show is. It would be pretty amazing if somebody made a T.V. show out of my life. It would be the longest running T.V. show ever. A whopping 22 season easily.

I watch it on surfthechannel.com, and my favorite character (Let me know if I misspell this name) is Emmit. He is like my idol in a very weird and twisted why that doesn't involve wanting to be a nude maid.

My favorite line of his was when he threw his first party and he was getting tons of business cards and he said, "I feel like the town whore on prom night... again!" I seriously had to pause my tivo because I was laughing so hard.

Yeah, that part was pretty much amazing... in so many ways. As for Brian and Justin, they are cute together and they overcome some amazing stuff, but Justin is just way to whiney for me and Brian needs to see what he's got... HE'S STUPID! Just my thoughts on the matter.

i LOVE queer as folk!!!!!!! i don't know how i'd live without it!!!!!!!!!! i bought all 5 seasons because i have to be able to watch whatever episode i want, whenever i want, or i'd totally go crazy ughhh omg it's waaaaaaay too hard to pick a favorite character bc they're all sooooo hott and they're all my favorite in different ways ... if i had to pick one, though, it'd be emmett, he's so sweet!! ugh ted disgusted me when he got addicted to cristal meth, stole the money, and made emmett feel like shit after emmett did everything for him and stood by his side when mellanie rightfully said that ted was an addict ughhhh emmett's such a good person like i thnk he realized he was wrong, but defended his partner anyways
omg i'll talk about qaf ANY time, IM me on AIM or MSN or on here or on WHATEVER and i'll talk about it lol |
