I have this friend who is starting to like this guy and they might go out soon, which is wonderful for her. She's one of my best friends and she's perfectly fine with me being gay. This guy said he doesn't care about anyone being les/gay/bi etc. Well, he thought that i thought he was hot. And i don't. And she's told him a couple times that i don't think he is. And i asked her why he just seemed so awkward around me and he said it's because it "hurts his ego".

So, i may be completely oblivious, but, what does that even mean?

Straight guys have the opinion that gay guys are all over any guy who is considered hot, and when he hears that you personally don't think he's attractive, he takes that to mean that no gay guy thinks he's hot, and therefore he's not as hot as other guys gay guys like.

If that makes sense.

Yeah, apparently I'm incredibly empathic (I think that's the word... sounds awkward though). I can naturally understand anyone's point of view or ways of thinking, but I'm completely oblivious to anything directed towards me, especially when someone's attracted to me. Anything like that just goes over my head. My friends never stop making fun of me for it, actually haha.
