I'm 6'4'' and 298lbs. I'm a big guy, and I am proud of my homosexuality. I feel sometimes that gay guys I know in person often put me down. Maybe not intentionally, but they do. Some I know they are off putting to me on purpose.
Is the gay society at-large fatphobic? I know a lot of straight men are homophobic because they are afraid of us (gay men) being attracted to them. Is it the same thing in the gay culture, twinky guys are afraid of me being attracted to them... so they shun me, so to speak? Last edited by Matt Rools You; 11-25-2007 at 10:36 PM. Reason: Grammar |

hey,
dont put yourself down! Just ignore the people that discriminate against you. I used to be quite large and it can be horrible when people call you fat. just think about it, if you have a crush on someone who then is nasty to you, they arent really a very nice person are they? so they arent worth getting angry or upset over. and for your question: I dont think the whole gay community is fatphobic. Just a select few idiots. and those idiots arent worth spending time worrying over. |

Just ignore them, you'll find someone. but to tell you the truth many people may accept you but not a lot of them will probably be attracted to you. not doing this to be mean but, well you know.

I'm not worried about attraction... There are plenty of people out there for me [See Wikipedia - Bear Community and "I am Bear, Hear me Roar!" - Salon.com] But I am concerned over not being accepted... or even appreciated by the gay population at-large.

Not to digress from the topic at hand, but some people are just naturally big. You might be one of those people, and there is not much you can do about it. However, if you are overweight in relation to your height and body size, then you might want to talk with your physician to discuss weight control options. Beyond physical looks you need to maintain your health, and the last thing you need is to suffer adverse physical problems as a result of your weight. Basically, no matter how you look you are just like anyone else in a good way. |
