Default Hip Hop

So...I'm finding that not very many gay guys like rap. Its usually the general consensus that they don't. I've found the same things in other forums.

So heres a question. Who here likes rap/r&b/hip hop? I know I do! Its my genre of choice.

And who here doesn't? And if so...why? I read in another forum where one guy though it was demeaning to gay people and that if you listened to it then you were a disgrace to the gay community...I though that was narrow-minded. What are your thoughts?

I love hip hop and rap! Although it's not my number one genre, I do LOVE listening to it.

I definitely have a good chunk of hip hop in my iTunes ... but to a rap afficionda it would probably look lame, I mainly have Tupac, and Jay Z. Kanye West is my working out music ... bigger, better, faster, stronger

No! Tupac is legendary!

OMG. Best rapper that ever lived. Kanye West is also seeing a lot of fame lately. In a lot of songs and remixes.

psh 99% of the black gay guys I've met online and in-person love hip hop and rap!

I listen to all sorts of different music, so I definitely have some hip hop, r&B, and rap in my library.

A lot of people need to realize that there are a lot of gay rappers/hip hop musicians out there too.

actually, i can c where he's coming from bc i watched this documentary (you'll hear that a lot) about rappers (specifically black ones) and their sexualities and like - ok b4 u read this, these arent my views, they r the views expressed in the documentary - it said that homosexual black men r less accepted in the black community and that many black rappers and hip hop artists are actually gay, yet they hide their true sexuality and sing about taking girls home to sleep with them and stuff ... it said there r these underground parties that r like totally secret (not anymore) and super exclusive where the gay rappers get with other men, but in order to get invited to the underground parties u have to like be reeeeaaaally tight with the rapper and stuff and if u ever go, ur not allowed to talk about it and stuff ... it didnt say which rappers r gay tho, but now i wanna know! ... but ya so the point is while i respectfully disagree with whoever thinks hip hop and rap are demeaning to the gay community, i can see where they're coming from (at least i think so ... they might be thinking something completely different) like that by supporting these people who r concealing their homosexuality, one would be disgracing the gay community

the way i c it, the rappers obviously feel like they have no choice ... i think that if there truly is a large number of gay rappers, then if they came out, people might be a whole lot more accepting of the gay community because ppl who arent accepting might find out that their idol is gay ... i still love their music tho i mean it's not like they say anything negative about gays, and they r liberal, voting for democrats, so i c no problem

i do love miley cyrus' song "see you again" ugh i LOVE that song!
i really like alternative music too like the killers
oh, and definitely "all over you" by the spill canvas, and "it's not my time" by 3 doors down

I don't think Eminen is gay, but his lyrics are definitely homophobic ... but I'll still listen to Eminen cos I don't think he truly hates gay people, he just says the most controversial things he can, cos that's what rap is about ... saying the nastiest things, having the tightest bling and having the freshest bling

oh ... i dunno about eminem, i haven't listened to a single song by him since he first came out ... what i was saying was about the black rappers, i don't think the documentary said anything about white ones (maybe bcuz eminem's the only one lol) ... but ya i've heard a lot of stuff about eminem like he doesn't really mean anything he sings, but i wouldn't listen to homophobic songs

Hahaha when black people act straight all the time but are secretly gay, it's called being on the Down Low, or the DL. I learned that from Law and Order, Scary Movie 4, and urbandictionary.com
