Ok so I'm 17 and my boyfriend is 14.
We split up yesterday, it took me a while to get him to tell me what was bugging him, and why he broke up with me, because of school and we have both been upset about it, and it turns out that the reason is because we are in a long distance relationship, and he just cant handle it right now, but he said that we will get back together when I move down in july. Anyways, he said that he's not sure if we can get back together openly, and that we will have to keep it secret, because I turn 18 in july, and he is worried that I can get arrested for statutory rape, since he doesn't turn 15 until September. So I just need to know, what the laws are in Canada for gay sex and relationships. It is considered statutory if someone over 18 has sex with someone under 18 even if they wanted it, but the age of consent is 14 in Canada, so that means that people under 14 can have sex with whoever they choose. and that confuses me, its like the laws contradict each other. so I'm not sure if it is legal for me and my boyfriend to go out or not, he said that when I move down we will have to keep it secret and not tell anyone. I am just wondering what you all think about this, and hoping that someone can give me a solid answer |
